Budowa systemu Business Intelligence

Poniższy rysunek prezentuje w formie graficznej jedno z podejść do architektury systemu Business Intelligence. Jest to struktura najczęściej spotykana na polskim rynku.

ETL i hurtowania danych

     Przedsiębiorstwo posiada dane gromadzone w wielu bazach aplikacji transakcyjnych, na co dzień używanych systemów księgowo-finansowych, systemów CRM czy ERP. Te dane powinny być scalone w jednym źródle umożliwiając wielowarstwową analizę bez obciążania systemów gromadzących te dane. Tę konsolidację zapewnia warstwa systemu ETL (ekstrakcja, transformacja i ładowanie danych). Dzięki mechanizmowi ETL otrzymujemy spójne źródło, które będzie podstawą do tworzenia systemu raportowania. Źródło to (które często nazywamy hurtownią danych) może mieć formę relacyjnej bazy danych bądź formę kostek OLAP’owych.

Widoki biznesowe

      Kolejną płaszczyzną, którą można wskazać w systemie Business Intelligence jest logiczna warstwa widoków biznesowych. Dostęp do danych jest jednym z najbardziej podstawowych, ale i trudnym aspektem projektowania raportów. Dotarcie do interesujących nas danych, odpowiednie łączenie tabel, filtrowanie danych i koncentrowanie się na określonym obszarze bardzo często wymaga dogłębnej wiedzy na temat struktury naszego źródła. Zadaniem warstwy logicznej jaką są widoki biznesowe jest uproszczenie tego procesu tak, aby analizę mogli wykonywać pracownicy nie związani na co dzień z działem IT. To oni najlepiej będą wiedzieć jakich informacji potrzebują i w jakiej formie.

Warstwa prezentacyjna

      Warstwą najbliższą osobom analizującym dane jest warstwa prezentacyjna, która reprezentuje rozwiązanie Crystal Reports Server. Jego zadaniem jest dostarczenie użytkownikom elastycznej i wydajnej platformy do publikowania i dystrybucji raportów wykonanych w Crystal Reports na platformie webowej. Crystal Reports Server to kompletne środowisko uruchomieniowe, umożliwiające przeglądanie, modyfikację oraz zarządzanie raportami na platformie webowej. System może być traktowany jako gotowy portal raportujący do natychmiastowego wdrożenia lub też stać się platformą do budowy aplikacji dostosowanej do środowiska i potrzeb konkretnego użytkownika.

Raporty i kokpity

     W rozwiązaniach firmy Business Objects narzędzia raportujące zostały tak zaprojektowane, aby korzystali z nich użytkownicy biznesowi a nie wyłącznie pracownicy działów IT. Analitycy otrzymują dwa rozwiązania w zależności od preferowanej formy prezentacji.
Crystal Reports to uznany na świecie standard tworzenia, przetwarzania i publikowania raportów w przedsiębiorstwach. Jest on graficznym narzędziem pozwalającym na bardzo szybkie i łatwe projektowanie zawansowanych raportów graficznych. Wszechobecne “wizardy” wspierają mniej zaawansowanego użytkownika, a rozbudowane możliwości programowania funkcji i formuł zaspakajają w pełni potrzeby programistów i informatyków.
      Dla kokpitów menadżerskich dedykowane jest narzędzie Xcelsius. Xcelsius Engage jest wyjątkowym narzędziem umożliwiającym przedstawienie różnorodnych danych w postaci interaktywnych prezentacji, które można natychmiast osadzić w Crystal Reports Server, na stronie Web, w dokumencie PDF czy w prezentacji MS PowerPoint. Przy użyciu tego narzędzia możemy tworzyć kokpity menadżerskie (dashboards) czy prezentować dane w formie analiz "co-jeśli" (what-if). Analiza "co-jeśli" jest kreatywnym i nowatorskim sposobem pokazywania wyników w możliwością zmiany wartości poszczególnych składowych.
